(PhatzRadio / AP) —- ST. LOUIS – drove in four runs and rookie left-hander John Gast picked up a win in his major , helping the cruise past the 10-4 on Tuesday night.

Gast (1-0) tossed five before giving up four runs in the sixth. He surrendered six hits, struck out three and walked one in a 71-pitch effort to help the Cardinals win for the in six games and 11th in their last 13.

Beltran slammed a three-run homer in the , his team-high 10th, to give St. Louis a 9-0 lead. He also added a run-scoring hit in the third.

Dillon Gee (2-5) gave up six runs — five earned — in four innings for the Mets, who lost their fifth straight.

ROCKIES 9, 4

CHICAGO (AP) — Carlos Gonzalez homered twice and finished with a career-high five hits to lead the struggling Rockies to a victory over the .

Gonzalez was 5 for 5 and fell a triple shy of a cycle, and Eric Young Jr. also homered for the Rockies, who had lost five of their last six.

Colorado increased its lead to 5-0 in the third when Gonzalez hit his eighth of the season deep into the right-. His home run in the ninth put the Rockies up 8-3 and gave him nine multi-home run games in his career.

Jeff Francis (2-3), winless since April 5, gave up one run and three hits while striking out seven in six innings. He was 0-3 with an 8.25 ERA over his previous six outings.

Carlos Villanueva (1-3) allowed six runs and 12 hits in five innings for the Cubs.

REDS 6, MARLINS 2

MIAMI (AP) — Homer Bailey pitched a six-hitter to earn his since April 5, and the Reds extended their to by beating the Marlins.

Xavier Paul hit a three-run double for the Reds, who took advantage of consecutive bases-loaded walks by . , who began the night tied for the NL lead in RBIs, drove in two runs.

Bailey (2-3), who threw a career-high 125 pitches, tied his major league best with 10 strikeouts and walked none in his fourth complete game. He retired the final eight batters, and his last pitch was a 97 mph fastball.

The right-hander, who has had spotty run support this season, lowered his ERA at night to 1.80. His ERA in three daytime starts is 7.16.

DIAMONDBACKS 2, BRAVES 0

PHOENIX (AP) — Patrick Corbin allowed three hits in seven innings and the Diamondbacks turned an infield double into two runs to beat the Braves.

Corbin (6-0) worked around five walks by inducing three double plays and struck out five to win his career-high sixth . He is the first Diamondbacks pitcher to start 6-0 since Brandon Webb won nine straight in 2008.

Corbin also helped keep Braves slugger Justin Upton in check after his impressive performance the night before and Heath Bell worked around an error in the ninth for his fifth save in the combined four-hitter.

Julio Teheran (2-1) matched Corbin most of the way, but crossed signals with first baseman Freddie Freeman on Gerardo Parra’s infield double in third inning. Didi Gregorius followed with a two-run single and made some stellar defensive plays behind Corbin to help Arizona end a three-game losing streak.

PIRATES 4, BREWERS 3, 12 innings

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Andrew McCutchen homered leading off the bottom of the 12th inning to lift the Pirates to a victory over the Brewers.

McCutchen hit a 2-2 pitch from Mike Fiers (0-2) into the right-centre field stands for his fifth home run of the season and the fourth game-ending shot of his career.

Pittsburgh’s Jose Tabata had three hits, Russell Martin hit two doubles and Neil Walker had two hits.

Vin Mazzaro (2-0) pitched two scoreless innings to help the Pirates beat the Brewers for the just the second time in their last 12 meetings. Milwaukee had won five straight games at PNC Park.

Ryan Braun had three hits, including a pair of doubles, for the Brewers.

DODGERS 2, NATIONALS 0

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Clayton Kershaw scattered five hits while striking out 11 in 8 2-3 innings, and Andre Ethier delivered a two-run single as the Dodgers beat the Nationals.

Kershaw (4-2) picked up his first win since April 28 but had to escape a bases-loaded jam in the first inning. He did so by striking out Tyler Moore.

The Dodgers scored their only runs in the third inning after Kershaw walked and Matt Kemp singled. Both runners advanced on a wild pitch and scored on Ethier’s single to centre.

Nationals pitcher Dan Haren (4-4) was looking to secure his fourth consecutive win but a troublesome third inning turned out to be costly.

INTERLEAGUE

PHILLIES 6, INDIANS 2

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Jonathan pitched neatly into the seventh, Kevin Frandsen and Domonic Brown hit solo homers and the Phillies beat the Indians.

John Mayberry Jr. had three hits and three RBIs, including a go-ahead two-run double for the Phillies, who won their third straight game to get within two wins of .500.

Pettibone (3-0) allowed two runs and four hits in 6 2-3 innings, the longest of his five career starts. Three relievers got the next four outs and Jonathan Papelbon finished in a non-save situation after Philadelphia tacked on two runs in the eighth.

The Phillies improved to 12-4 when Pettibone, Kyle Kendrick or John Lannan start. They’re 7-16 in games started by the $64.5 million trio of Cole Hamels, Roy Halladay and Cliff Lee.

Cleveland’s Scott Kazmir (2-2) gave up four runs and six hits in five-plus innings.

CINCINNATI — Dan Uggla hit a pair of and Juan Francisco added his first career grand slam as Atlanta recovered from a stunning last-swing loss the previous day.

Atlanta took two of three, the first series the Reds lost at home this season.

Devin Mesoraco and Shin-Soo Choo hit two-out homers in the ninth for Cincinnati’s 5-4 win on Tuesday. A day later, one of the NL’s top power teams got the better of it.

Uggla had solo shots in the fourth and sixth off Mike Leake (2-2). Francisco’s slam off J.J. Hoover highlighted a five-run eighth. The Braves got Francisco from the Reds last year for Hoover.

Mike Minor (4-2) allowed four hits in seven innings, including Zack Cozart’s solo homer.

DIAMONDBACKS 3, DODGERS 2

LOS ANGELES — Paul Goldschmidt homered twice, including a tie-breaking shot for the second straight game, lifting Arizona over slumping Los Angeles.

The D-backs completed a three-game sweep of the Dodgers, who have dropped a season-high seven straight games.

Goldschmidt homered to left field in the eighth with two outs. He also hit a two-run shot off Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw in the sixth.

Wade Miley (3-1) outlasted Kershaw in a matchup of two of the best left-handed starters in the NL over the past two seasons.

Miley allowed two runs and seven hits in 7 2/3 innings, struck out four and walked none.

Heath Bell pitched the ninth to earn his third save in four chances.

YANKEES 3, ROCKIES 2

DENVER — Pinch-hitter Brennan Boesch hit a tiebreaking infield single with the bases loaded in the ninth off closer Rafael Betancourt and New York snapped a five-game skid at Coors Field.

Vernon Wells had a two-run homer in the first and scored the decisive run when third baseman Nolan Arenado couldn’t throw out a hustling Boesch after a diving stop.

David Robertson (2-0) earned the win by working out of a jam in the eighth and Mariano Rivera pitched the ninth for his 12th save in 12 chances.

It’s the first time New York has won in the Mile High City since June, 19, 2002.

RANGERS 4, BREWERS 1

MILWAUKEE — Derek Holland allowed one run over seven shaky innings and the Texas Rangers benefited from two Milwaukee baserunning blunders to beat the Brewers 4-1 Wednesday night.

Holland (3-2), who struck out six and walked none, yielded 10 hits — including two in the second, three in the third and three in the sixth. He escaped with the help of some sloppy baserunning by the Brewers, who had a runner thrown out at the plate to end the third and another thrown out at third base in the sixth.

Tanner Scheppers pitched the eighth and Joe Nathan finished for his ninth save. The Rangers remain the only team in either league without a blown save, 10 for 10.

Ian Kinsler hit a two-run shot for Texas.

NATIONALS 3 TIGERS 1

WASHINGTON — Bryce Harper hit a solo homer and drove in another run with a sacrifice fly, won his NL-leading sixth game and Washington for the fifth time in six games.

Denard Span added a triple and a single for Washington, which has won five of six.

Zimmermann (6-1), whose scoreless streak was snapped at 20 innings in the third, allowing a run on seven hits over seven innings. He fanned seven and lowered his ERA to 1.59 in winning his third straight start.

Rafael Soriano pitched a scoreless ninth for his 11th save.

Jhonny Peralta had two hits for the Tigers, who had won four straight and nine of 10.

Detroit’s Anibal Sanchez (3-3) allowed three runs, two earned, on eight hits and struck out eight.

WHITE SOX 6, METS 3

NEW YORK — Jake Peavy pitched three-hit ball in his return from a balky back, Alejandro De Aza had a leadoff homer and Chicago earned a split of the two-game interleague series.

Alex Rios homered among his three hits and knocked in two runs for the White Sox. Conor Gillaspie blooped a two-run double off Jeremy Hefner (0-4) as Chicago’s struggling hitters finally found a few holes.

Rios also had an RBI double and Paul Konerko a run-scoring single to help the last-place White Sox take the finale of a 4-4 road trip.

Peavy (4-1) got some prime help on defense from shortstop Alexei Ramirez and center fielder Dewayne Wise.

MARINERS 2, PIRATES 1

PITTSBURGH — Felix Hernandez scattered six hits and Jesus Montero broke a tie with a solo home run in the seventh inning off A.J. Burnett to lead Seattle.

Hernandez (5-2) struck out five and walked one to improve to 4-0 in his last five starts while shaving his ERA to 1.53. The right-hander shook off a shaky first inning then settled down to allow four base runners in his final seven innings of work. Tom Wilhelmsen worked the ninth for his ninth save.

Burnett (3-3) was almost as sharp, giving up just two hits over seven innings while striking out nine. Yet he also walked four batters and gave up Montero’s third homer of the season with one out in the seventh.

Pettibone (2-0) allowed one run and five hits in 6 1-3 innings in his third start filling in for injured lefty John Lannan.

Donovan Solano hit a for the Marlins, who’ve lost three in a row after winning three straight.

Ricky Nolasco (2-3) gave up four runs and eight hits in six innings.

PIRATES 3, NATIONALS 1

PITTSBURGH (AP) — A.J. Burnett allowed one run and struck out nine in seven shutout innings, and call-up Jordy Mercer hit a tiebreaker home run to lead Pittsburgh to is in .

Burnett (3-2) gave up five hits and one walk in winning his third straight after going 0-2 in his first three starts. He also raised his NL-leading strikeout total to 57.

Mercer’s two-run home run off (1-3) in the put the Pirates ahead 3-1. Mercer was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis before the game when Neil Walker was placed on the disabled list with a right hand injury.

The Nationals lost for the fourth time in six games.

METS 7, BRAVES 5, 10 INNINGS

ATLANTA (AP) — David Wright hit the tying home run in the ninth inning off closer Craig Kimbrel and New York scored twice in the 10th to rally for the over Atlanta.

The Mets, who have won two in a row after dropping six straight, scored four of their first five runs on homers before taking a two-run lead off Jordan Walden (1-1) in the 10th. Walden gave up two runs while getting just two outs.

Jeurys Familia earned his first save by retiring facing the minimum in the bottom half of the 10th.

Closer Bobby Parnell (2-0) got two outs for the win.

CARDINALS 6, BREWERS 1

MILWAUKEE (AP) — and homered and pitched six strong innings to propel St. Louis to victory.

Miller (4-2) gave up seven hits and a walk in six innings while striking out five.

He held Milwaukee scoreless through the first five innings before allowing a sacrifice fly by Jonathan Lucroy. Carlos Martinez, Seth Maness and Fernando Salas held the Brewers without a run over the final three innings. Martinez and Maness made their major league debuts.

The Cardinals jumped in front in the third inning on a two-out, two-run home run by Holliday off Brewers starter Kyle Lohse (1-3). Allen Craig followed with a single but was thrown out at the plate attempting to score on a double by Yadier Molina, one of three Cardinals thrown out at the plate.

REDS 6, CUBS 5

CHICAGO (AP) — Jay Bruce had two RBIs and scored and Shin-Soo Choo drove in a run and scored twice to help Cincinnati hold off Chicago.

The Cubs scored three runs in the ninth against Reds closer Aroldis Chapman before reliever J.J. Hoover came on and struck out Darwin Barney with the bases loaded to pick up his first save.

Mike Leake (2-1) gave up two runs and nine hits in 5 2-3 innings, earned his fourth straight decision over the Cubs with help from five relievers.

Devin Mesoraco, Todd Frazier and Zack Cozart also had run-scoring hits to help the Reds hand Carlos Villanueva (1-2) the loss.

GIANTS 2, DODGERS 1

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Buster Posey hit a game-ending home run into the left-field seats leading off the bottom of the ninth, and the Giants beat the Dodgers.

Sergio Romo (2-2) struck out two in the top of the inning and survived Matt Kemp’s nine-pitch single for the victory.

Posey connected for his first -winning RBI of any kind on a 3-2 pitch from Ronald Belisario (2-3), who hadn’t allowed a run in his previous four appearances over six innings.

Clayton Kershaw came off the bereavement list to pitch seven impressive innings for the Dodgers only five days after the death of his father, Christopher, and 56 hours following the funeral in Texas. Kershaw allowed one run and three hits, struck out five and walked three in a 104-pitch outing.

PADRES 7, DIAMONDBACKS 6

SAN DIEGO (AP) — Yonder Alonso hit a go-ahead, two-run homer off Wade Miley in the fifth inning and the Padres held on to beat the Diamondbacks for their seventh win in nine games.

With the Padres trailing 3-2, Alonso drove a 2-2 pitch from Miley (2-1) into the Jack Daniel’s Old No. 7 deck in right-center, his fourth. It would have been a home run even in Petco Park’s old configuration. The fences were moved in 11 feet from the home run porch in the right-field corner to the gap in an attempt to make the downtown ballpark play fairer. Jesus Guzman was aboard on a grounder.

The homer made a winner of (3-2). Marquis allowed three runs and four hits in six innings, struck out five and walked five.

Zimmermann (4-1) struck out four and walked one while improving to 3-0 with a 1.36 ERA in five against Cincinnati. The right-hander needed only 91 pitches to record his third career complete game.

It was the first time the Reds managed just one hit in consecutive games since July 5-6, 1900, against Brooklyn, according to research by the Elias Sports Bureau that the team provided. The Houston Astros from Sept. 14-15, 2008, were the last major league team with such a streak.

Xavier Paul led off the third with a single to centre for Cincinnati’s only hit off Zimmermann.

Homer Bailey (1-2) allowed one run and six hits in seven innings for the Reds.

The Nationals’ only run came in the third. Bryce Harper tripled to right and scored on ’s single to right.

PHOENIX (AP) — Troy Tulowitzki hit a bases-loaded double with two out in the fifth inning, leading Colorado to the victory.

Michael Cuddyer had two-out, two-run single in the first, and Wilin Rosario added a in the sixth for the Rockies.

Juan Nicasio (3-0) pitched long enough to earn the win, going five innings and allowing three runs and four hits. Rafael Betancourt earned his eighth save with a scoreless ninth inning.

Brandon McCarthy pitched six innings for Arizona and was charged with six runs and nine hits. He struck out seven but dropped to 0-3 on the season with a 7.48 ERA.

SAN DIEGO (AP) — Andrew Cashner pitched six effective innings and contributed a big hit at the plate, helping the San Diego to the win.

Cashner (1-1) allowed one run and five hits, struck out five and walked one. He retired the last 12 batters he faced, avenging a 2-0 loss to Tim Lincecum and the Giants last Saturday.

Cashner also picked up his second major league hit and scored San Diego’s first run in its two-run third inning.

Lincecum (2-1) struck out nine and allowed six hits in seven innings. Huston Street worked the ninth for his fourth save.

MIAMI (AP) — Anthony Rizzo had two home runs and four RBIs to power the Cubs to back-to-back wins for the first time this season.

Rizzo’s second career two-homer game gave him eight on the season, the most by a Cubs left-handed hitter in April. Billy Williams (1970) and Henry Rodriguez (2000) each hit seven.

Scott Feldman (1-3) allowed two runs in 6 2-3 innings, and Kevin Gregg recorded his second save. Darwin Barney had three hits for Chicago, which beat Miami 4-3 on Thursday and had been 0-6 following a win.

The Dodgers extended the margin to 7-4 in the eighth on a run-scoring groundout by Hairston and an RBI single by Crawford.

Atlanta brothers B.J. and Justin Upton homered in the same game for the second time this season as the Braves kept up their torrid play. Atlanta improved to a major league-best 13-2 after Gattis hit a sinker from Jared Hughes (1-1) into the left-field bleachers for the first pinch-hit homer of his career.

Justin Upton leads the majors with nine home runs.

CHICAGO (AP) — Alfonso Soriano hit his first home run of the season, Anthony Rizzo also homered and the Chicago Cubs beat the Texas Rangers at a soggy Wrigley Field.

Despite torrential rains that caused citywide floods, the teams were able to play in an occasional drizzle. The Cubs and Texas were rained out Wednesday.

Rizzo hit a two-run homer in the third inning and Soriano followed with a shot that gave the Cubs a 5-0 lead against Alexi Ogando (2-1). Soriano’s homer accounted for his first RBI of the season.

Welington Castillo added a career-high four hits as Chicago ended its three-game losing streak.

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – A.J. Burnett took a no-hitter into the seventh inning nearly 12 years after throwing the only one of his career, pitching the to a 5-0 victory over the on Wednesday night.

Burnett (1-2) lost his bid with two outs in the seventh on ’s double to right-centre. That was the lone hit given up by the 36-year-old right-hander in seven dominant innings.

Burnett struck out eight. He got the 2,000th strikeout of his 15-year career when he caught Beltran looking in the second.

Burnett’s no-hitter came on May 12, 2001, for the in San Diego. That game was also notable for his nine walks. Burnett walked none against St. Louis.

Detwiler (1-0) allowed one run in seven innings, which increased his ERA to 0.90. He left his first two starts with the Nationals ahead 5-1 and 4-1, but both times received no decision.

ATLANTA (AP) — Wade Davis pitched seven sharp innings, Jeff Francoeur had an RBI single and the Kansas City Royals stopped Atlanta’s 10-game .

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Pinch-hitter Blake Lalli lifted a long single in the bottom of the ninth inning that sent the over the San Francisco Giants.

With the score tied, one out and the outfielders playing in, Lalli stepped to the plate for just the sixth time this season.

Lalli lofted a deep fly ball well over the head of left fielder Gregor Blanco for his first hit of 2013. Milwaukee extended its longest winning streak this year to three.

Staked to a quick lead, Zito (2-0) won his 11th straight decision, dating to last year’s postseason. San Francisco earned its 16th consecutive in games he has started, the longest such run by a Giants pitcher since 16 in a row by Carl Hubbell for New York in 1936, STATS said.

Zito has thrown 14 scoreless innings so far, the deepest the lefty has gone without giving up a run to start a season in his 14-year career.

Posey hit an RBI triple in the first, a run-scoring double in the second and an RBI single in the fifth. He scored twice.

Pollock began the day in an 0-for-14 rut. He also made a diving catch in center field to rob Andrew McCutchen in the first inning.

Wade Miley (2-0) allowed two runs on five hits in 6 2-3 innings.

Jonathan Sanchez (0-2) was charged with nine runs and eight hits in 3 1-3 innings. The last two of those runs came after Sanchez left and reliever Chris Leroux walked two batters, on four pitches each, with the bases loaded in the Diamondbacks’ four-run fourth.

PHILADELPHIA — Domonic Brown and Chase Utley homered in a five-run first, Kyle Kendrick threw six effective innings and Philadelphia beat New York.

Pinch-hitter Laynce Nix also went deep for the Phillies, who took two straight from the Mets to earn their first series win of the year.

John Buck homered for the third straight game and Lucas Duda had two solo shots for New York. The Mets set a club record by hitting at least one homer in their first nine games.

Kendrick (1-1) allowed two runs and eight hits to become the first Philadelphia starter other than Cliff Lee to get a win.

Mets starter Jeremy Hefner (0-2) gave up five runs and six hits in three innings.

SAN DIEGO — Carl Crawford led off with an opposite-field homer and A.J. Ellis added a two-run shot to back Chad Billingsley’s strong season debut and lead Los Angeles over San Diego.

Bryce Harper also homered for the Nationals, who were coming off a 15-0 loss in the series opener — their most since returned to Washington in 2005. The Reds hit six homers in that one.

Washington got the better of it this time, hitting five homers to Cincinnati’s one. The teams have combined for 12 homers, accounting for 20 of the 28 runs in the series.

Wilson Ramos hit two for the Nationals, including a solo shot off J.J. Hoover (0-2) in the 11th for a 7-5 lead.

Desmond’s two errors led to a pair of runs that helped the Reds rally from a 5-1 deficit against one of the NL’s best bullpens.

New York led 3-2 in the seventh inning moments before plate umpire Jim Joyce made the unusual call.

Juan Pierre was at second base and Greg Dobbs hit a two-out single. Pierre dashed home easily with the tying run as right fielder Mike Baxter’s throw was 10 feet wide of Buck at the plate. Pierre crossed home but then collided with Buck as the catcher planted to try and throw out Dobbs at second.

Joyce immediately called Pierre for interference and ruled Dobbs out, ending the inning.

New York then scored three times to break away. Daniel Murphy hit an RBI triple, Wright singled home a run and Buck had a . Catcher Miguel Olivo contributed to Miami’s problems in the seventh with two throwing errors on steals at second base.

MILWAUKEE — Jason Kubel, Paul Goldschmidt and Aaron Hill each homered in Arizona’s victory over the injury-depleted Brewers.

Kubel’s two-run homer gave the Diamondbacks a 3-2 lead in the fourth. Goldschmidt then hit a two-run drive in the fourth to make it 6-2. Hill’s solo shot capped the scoring in the eighth after his RBI double in the first gave Arizona a 1-0 lead.

Starter Patrick Corbin (1-0) gave up a run in each of the first two innings, but settled in to win his season debut.

The start was another in a disturbing trend for Milwaukee’s Michael Fiers (0-1), who struggled at the end of 2012 and in spring training. He gave up six runs on nine hits and a walk while striking out one in five innings of his season debut.

ATLANTA — B.J. Upton led off the ninth inning with a homer and his brother Justin followed one out later with another long ball that helped the Atlanta Braves rally past embattled Chicago Cubs closer Carlos Marmol for a victory.

Justin went 3 for 5 with two RBIs. He also homered in the first and now has five homers in Atlanta’s first five games.

The Braves rallied from a 5-1 deficit with three runs in the eighth off Kyuji Fukijawa and two in the ninth off Marmol.

Eric O’Flaherty (1-0) pitched a scoreless ninth despite allowing a hit and walk.

Marmol (0-1) gave up two hits, both , in one-third of an inning. His ERA ballooned to 27.00.

DENVER — Jon Garland threw six sharp innings in his in almost two years and Michael Cuddyer drove in four runs, helping the Rockies to a win over the Padres.

Garland (1-0) hardly showed any signs of rust in his first big league start since June 1, 2011. He had season-ending shoulder surgery a month later. The procedure also kept him sidelined for 2012. He gave up two runs and struck out two.

Tyson Ross (0-1) lasted four innings and allowed three runs — two earned — in his Padres debut after being acquired in the offseason from Oakland. He struggled with his control as he walked four.

DODGERS 1, PIRATES 0

LOS ANGELES — Clayton Kershaw followed up his sensational one-man show on opening day with seven innings of two-hit ball and nine strikeouts in a spirited duel with A.J. Burnett, and the Dodgers beat Pittsburgh for their second straight shutout win over the Pirates.

PHILADELPHIA — Pinch-hitter Kevin Frandsen hit a bases-clearing, three-run double with two outs in the ninth off closer Greg Holland to lift the Phillies to a victory over the Kansas City Royals in front of the smallest crowd in Philadelphia in four years.

The Phillies had just two hits and trailed 3-1 to start the inning. Holland (0-1) walked Chase Utley, Ryan Howard and Michael Young to load the bases. He then struck out Domonic Brown swinging and fanned John Mayberry Jr. looking.

But Frandsen ripped a first-pitch fastball to right-center to knock in all three runners.

Royals starter Luis Mendoza threw six stellar innings, and the Royals’ bullpen went into the ninth with seven hitless innings in the series.

Antonio Bastardo (1-0) pitched a scoreless ninth to earn the win.

(PhatzRadio / AP) — CINCINNATI — Ian Desmond made two errors at shortstop that helped the Cincinnati Reds take the game to extra innings, then led off the 11th with his first home run of the season to rally the Washington Nationals to a 7-6 Saturday.

Bryce Harper also homered for the Nationals, who were coming off a 15-0 loss in the series opener — their most since baseball returned to Washington in 2005. The Reds hit six homers in that one.

Washington got the better of it this time, hitting five homers to Cincinnati’s one. The teams have combined for 12 homers, accounting for 20 of the 28 runs in the series.

Wilson Ramos hit two for the Nationals, including a solo shot off J.J. Hoover (0-2) in the 11th for a 7-5 lead.

Desmond’s two errors led to a pair of runs that helped the Reds rally from a 5-1 deficit against one of the NL’s best bullpens.

Nationals closer blew a save for the first time in three chances. He gave up a leadoff homer to Shin-Soo Choo in the ninth before tripled — his first extra-base hit of the season — and scored on a wild pitch.
