“New Year’s Day: Now is the accepted time to make your regular annual good resolutions. Next week you can begin paving hell with them as usual.”
-Mark Twain

New Year’s Eve is one of the biggest parties of the year. In addition to partying, many celebrators take the time to look back on the past year, and decide on their goals and hopes for the coming one. Modern New Year’s Eve parties typically feature dancing, drinking and a countdown to midnight. Cheering, the singing of “Auld Lang Syne,” on the stroke of midnight, and the use of loud noisemakers and fireworks to ring in the new year are all common ways of celebrating in Western culture.

It’s also the perfect time to set your goals for the coming year, and look back on what you accomplished in the past 365. And do we need to mention it’s an opportunity to drink champagne with beautiful women? Asking about new year’s resolutions is a surefire conversation starter.
