LOS ANGELES—The recent voluntarily bankruptcy filing by Questex Holding Company will have no impact on the 2010 AVN Adult Entertainment Expo (AEE), to be presented Jan. 7-10. 2010 at the Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas, or on any future Expos. The 2010 Expo is in full production mode, with fan and trade registrations pacing ahead of last year and with strong support from exhibitors. The filing was a voluntary fully funded pre-packaged deal at the Questex Holding Company level that will restructure the company’s balance sheet, lowering the company’s debt levels – it will have no impact on the daily operations of the company at the operating level, and thus no impact at all on AEE. AEE will continue to be the largest adult expo in the U.S and will bring the top talent, key buyers and fans together in one location for a great four-day event. Once the filing is completed, the company will have the opportunity to re-invest more funds into AEE since the debt ratio will be much lower. Girls Gone Wild' Video Shoot Results in 16 Arrests

YULEE, FL.—Even in the smallest burg, all it apparently takes is a single sighting of the infamous "Girls Gone Wild" bus to get law enforcement swinging into action. That's just what happened Friday when a Good Samaritan saw trouble brewing in Yulee, Florida. "Nassau County Sheriff Tommy Seagraves was tipped off by a concerned citizen who saw a 'Girls Gone Wild' bus in town," reports the Florida Times-Union. "Deputies investigated the incident because it's illegal to operate a sexually oriented business in Nassau County or to expose yourself in public. Therefore, some of the film crew's activities might violate the law." The bus was parked at The Mill Night Club. Undercover officers were dispatched and observed men in the bar encouraging several women to show their breasts so they could film them, and also offering to spray-paint their breasts for the cameras. Arrests followed. Kim Karim Bateh, the club's owner, was arrested for operating a sexually-oriented business and also on obscenity charges, as were Thomas William Ryan and Michael Daniel Bateh, who were at the bar at the time. "Girls Gone Wild" employees Paul Thomas Simmons and Robert Wayne Decorah Illo also were arrested, on charges of operating a sexually oriented business and obscenity, according to the Times-Union, which reports that four other men were detained for a variety of offenses that included engaging in a sexual offense, resisting arrest without violence, disorderly intoxication and prohibition of certain acts in connection with obscene, lewd materials. Seven women also were sent to the hoosegow, charged with indecent exposure. "Girls Gone Wild" owner Joe Francis was not present. McCain Wants to Block Net Neutrality

WASHINGTON —Sen. John McCain has introduced the Internet Freedom Act, a legislation that would bar the Federal Communications Commission from establishing net neutrality rules. According to the Republican Arizona senator, the proposed rules announced yesterday by the FCC, which would prohibit broadband providers from selectively blocking or slowing Internet content and applications, are a sign of “government takeover.” In a written statement, McCain said that the FCC’s proposed rules would stifle Internet innovation and would depress an “already anemic” job market in the U.S. "Today I'm pleased to introduce the Internet Freedom Act of 2009 that will keep the Internet free from government control and regulation," McCain said in his statement. "It will allow for continued innovation that will in turn create more high-paying jobs for the millions of Americans who are out of work or seeking new employment. Adam & Eve Asks ‘How Many Have You Had?’

HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. — Adam & Eve asked more than 1,000 Americans to reveal how many sexual partners they’ve had and found most have had between two and five. According to Adam & Eve’s Great American Sex Survey, 23.8 percent said they’d slept with between two to five partners. Of the respondents 21 percent were male and 28 percent were female. The respondents with six to 10 partners (23.1 percent) consisted of 22 percent males and 24.9 percent females. Twenty-one percent of the respondents answered that they have had between 11 and 25 partners. Thirteen percent of the female respondents and 11.7 of the males said they have had only one partner. “We were pleased to see that the number of partners for the average person is in line with a similar survey we created around 10 years ago,” said Katy Zvolerin, Adam & Eve director or public relations. “It’s interesting to see that even with much more access to sexually oriented media, the average American is still holding on to traditional sexual values in many ways.” The smallest answer selection of the survey showed that 8.8 percent of the respondents have had more than 50 partners. U.S. Judge Rejects Challenge to Craigslist's Erotic Services

CHICAGO — In a ruling of significant interest to online adult businesses, a federal judge has thrown out a lawsuit by Cook County’s top cop who sued Craigslist in an attempt to force the company to drop its erotic services category. U.S. Judge F. John Grady granted a motion for judgment in favor of Craigslist and said that Sheriff Tom Dart can continue to use Craigslist’s website to finger Johns who use prostitution services, but he cannot sue Craigslist for its conduct. Craigslist has maintained all along that it has been immune from liability and shielded by 47 U.S.C. § 230(c), known as the Communication Decency Act, which generally reads that you can’t hold the messenger liable for third-party content. “Sheriff Dart alleged that Craiglist itself violated criminal laws prohibiting prostitution and related offenses,” Grady wrote. “He alleges for example that Craigslist knowingly ‘arranges’ meetings for the purpose of prostitution and ‘directs’ people to places of prostitution." Grady, in his ruling, said he didn’t buy Dart’s argument and said that just because the site indexes and categorizes the ads, it’s a stretch to claim that the site ‘arranges’ and ‘directs’ ads. “Craigslist does not ‘provide’ that information, its users do,” he said. Earlier this year, Dart went on a crusade against the online classified ad site, calling Craigslist “the "single largest source of prostitution in the nation." "Craigslist unabashedly facilitates prostitution, then ultimately makes a profit from it," Dart said in a release, pointing to the annual $80 million in revenue Craigslist generates. Craigslist, in the past year, has changed its rules for the “erotic” category. The San Francisco-based company pledged to crack down on prostitution ads as part of an accord with several attorneys general. It said it would require anyone who posts such an ad to provide a working phone number and pay a fee with a valid credit card.
