NEW YORK — Adult social network services provider Pornoob has announced its first enterprise solution for studio profiles. "We're now able [to] provide membership-based communities a solution to get their models integrated into a social network," Joel, Pornoob's co-founder and creative director, said. "We came up with this idea while working with OnHerCam.com, a webcam community with an emphasis on social media and model-to-member interaction." According to the company, Pornoob's contract model solution is built upon the site's custom platform, which provides flexible control over the model's communication permissions and profile themes. "If you don't want other studios talking to your models on Pornoob, it's as simple as just disallowing the privilege, as well as any other profile type," Joel said. "Studios concerned about branding can apply the same profile theme to all of its models with a click of the mouse." Contract models listed on studio profiles are shown on top of the 'Friends' listing for visual distinction. The company says the new solution is expected to increase the amount of talent within its social network, but more importantly provide a way for membership-based communities and studios to inject themselves into a social network. "I don't know of any other site that allows the functionality that we are providing right now," Co-Founder and Technical Director of Pornoob, Theofanis, offered. "The flexibility and control we give to community owners who want their models interacting with their members and fans is very exciting to say the least." Dreamnet.com, a community which boats more than 11 years of helping MILF's and girlfriends make money online, is already onboard. "All of the Dreamnet women have already joined Pornoob," Dreamnet operator Rob said. "They're a great group of girls that are very excited with the freedom that the site allows them." "I've always dreamt that Dreamnet would someday grant the women social networking capabilities so they could interact with their members and fans," Rob added. "Pornoob's Contract Model solution is the perfect outlet for us. Not only does it meet our needs but it provides us with an ever-growing user-base of porn enthusiasts." "By identifying models with their respective studio or community (if they belong to one), we're able to provide unification and organization to what otherwise would appear as a bunch of models independently online floating around social networks without proper branding," Joel concluded. "Communities like OnHerCam and Dreamnet are encouraged to create their Studio profile using the beta code 'bedrock' and try the solution for free." … [Read more...]
Free Speech Coalition Benefits From Hustler's Freedomfest
07/30/2009 WEST HOLLYWOOD—More than 200 porn fans and pros squeezed into the world-famous night spot Whiskey a Go Go for an evening of booze, schmooze and adult entertainment, as Hustler Hollywood hosted the Sex, Drinks and Rock ’n’ Roll Freedomfest, all to benefit the Free Speech Coalition, the adult industry's trade association. "I flew all the way from the east coast to be here tonight," said Frank Kay of New Jersey-based International Video Distributors and East Coast News. "I wouldn't miss this for the world." Co-hosts Ambre Lake (of VH1's "Rock of Love") and adult industry personality Tony Batman kicked things off by introducing FSC executive director Diane Duke, who thanked all for attending, and gave particular thanks to Hustler VP Theresa Flynt for helping to arrange the venue, which is directly across the street from Hustler Hollywood. Duke also thanked the event's several sponsors, including AVN, Wicked Pictures, Adventure Industries, Evil Angel Productions, Screaming O, Sportsheets, Topco Sales and XGen, then asked AVN senior editor Mark Kernes to say a few words. Kernes' comments focused on the need for the industry to support the fight for free sexual speech, and questioned the U.S. Department of Justice's commitment to it, noting that while the owner of website TorturePortal.com had just been indicted for obscenity, those who ordered and supported actual torture such as former VP Dick Cheney were facing no sanctions for their actions. Adam & Eve contract player Kayden Kross then took the stage, lauding the company's 35 years of service to the adult industry, and introduced a clip from her latest movie, Kayden's Krossfire, directed by Andre Madness. The audience cheered loudly when actress Sunny Lane next strutted her stuff, wearing a selection of lingerie available at the Hustler Hollywood store. This was followed by the evening's first raffle, for a gift basket containing products donated by XGen, Adventure Industries and Adam & Eve. Between the acts, the audience was treated to the hot rock sounds of local bands L.A. Gunns and Bolt Action Thrill, coordinated by industry vet Jack Napier. As we were leaving, Evil Angel co-owner Karen Stagliano had taken the stage to announce her company's support for FSC, and to introduce clips from her company own fundraising video, Defend Our Porn, created to help defray the costs of the federal obscenity charges currently pending against the company. According to the event's schedule, what followed included more Hustler lingerie modeling, a Screaming O Orgasm contest judged by professional orgasmers Nina Hartley, Sasha Grey and Nicki Hunter, more video clips from Wicked Pictures and Hustler Video, BurningAngel's Joanna Angel demonstrating products from Topco, a Sportsheets product demonstration, and more raffle prize awards. Besides those mentioned above, among the industry attendees we saw at the event were Wicked contract players jessica … [Read more...]
Porn Star of the Week
Sunny Lane http://SunnyLaneXXX.com Age: 29 Birth Place: Georgia Height: 5' Weight: 100 lbs. Measurements: 34C-24-34 Hair Color: Blonde BIOGRAPHY AVN Award Winner Born in Georgia and raised in Florida, Sunny Lane has been an entertainer almost all of her life. The energy burning bright in her megawatt smile and glowing sensuality is a powerful combination of dedication, determination and desire. "Well, I've always been focused and had goals and dreams," says Lane. "You've got to do that to make it all happen. You have to be a risk taker." As a competitive ice skater, Lane spent her childhood on the national circuit, rising to the level of regional champion. An only child, Lane has strong family ties. Her parents, married for 29 years, took her on summer vacations to Disney World and Yellowstone. Lane was a member of the local Brownie troop and her mother sewed her skating costumes. "My parents were very big on me getting a good education and finishing school," Lane recalls. "I had to have good grades to be able to skate. Theyare very open-minded, strong willed people that taught me great morals of life and love. I was raised with a great work ethic, in an honest family upbringing; I don't lie, cheat or steal." Sunny suffered potentially career-ending injuries in a car accident at the age of 16, but defied the doctors' diagnosis to go on and compete, while also coaching young ice skaters and operating her own yoga and Pilates studio. Eventually, health issues caused her to reevaluate the goals of remaining a pro athlete and coach. "I had to rethink my career and where I was going, and what I would be able to do. I wanted to continue entertaining; show my creativity, tell a story and entertain people to keep them smiling. I thought about how I'd be able to continue doing all this, and that's when becoming an exotic dancer came to mind," Lane explains. Natural and charismatic, Lane hit the stage in 2004, winning Déjà Vu Showgirl of the Year and beginning her ascent into the world of adult entertainment. After attending the AVN Awards show, she felt herself gravitating towards adult celebrities and industry insiders. "I was intrigued and impressed by the people I met and could see how real and open-minded they were. I liked the way they were able to combine entertainment and business with sexuality, because I have always been a very sexual person," Lane says. Dennis Hof, owner of the Moonlight Bunny Ranch, the Nevada brothel featured in HBO's Cathouse reality series, was one of the people Lane met and with whom she eventually started a personal relationship. After several months of promotions and assisting Hof with the business, they parted. Lane continued forward with her career. As Nightmoves Calendar cover girl for 2005, Lane attended an industry event where she met Farrell Hirsch, executive producer of Playboy Radio. Noting Lane's girl-next-door looks and homegrown personality, he offered Lane a chance to come to LA, … [Read more...]
Urban X Award Winners Announced
HOLLYWOOD — A raucous ceremony for the second annual Urban X Awards took place Sunday night at Boulevard 3, seeing winners announced in nearly 60 categories recognizing excellence in black, Asian and Latin erotica. The affair was hosted by adult stars Roxy Reynolds and Mr. Marcus, and included performances by Medusa, Brian Pumper and Joe Moses. Industry personality James Bartholet emceed as the stars filtered into the main hall to take their seats for the event. And they all got revved up aplenty when Medusa took the stage to begin the show with her tracks "Dusty Ball Drop" and "Ready, Set, Action." Marcus and Reynolds then appeared, he in a grey suit and his signature L.A. Dodgers ballcap, she in an elegant orange gown. Reynolds gave a brief summary of the show's mission, saying it aims to recognize "all your favorite porn stars who've been overlooked this year by that other show." (We assume she was referring to the RogReviews.com Fan Faves Awards.) The first award of the evening was the Hall of Fame Male honor, bestowed upon Wesley Pipes, T.T. Boy, Mark Anthony and Sledge Hammer. Pinky presented the award, with the intro: "Just like NBA players who make it to the Hall of Fame, these guys really know how to take it to the hole." T.T. Boy was the only recipient not present to accept the award, but Mark Anthony spoke well enough for all four of them by cracking, "Well, I'm in the Hall of Fame, I guess I'll retire now." Speaking of Pinky, it was a very big night for the diminutive star. She collected Best Talent Website, Female Performer of the Year and Porn Star of the Year, receiving massive cheers each time she appeared on stage. West Coast Productions had a good night as well, scooping up trophies in seven categories, including Best Studio for the second year in a row. Alexander DeVoe Productions matched that tally, with DeVoe himself being named Director of the Year, and making almost as impressive showings were Mercenary Pictures and Justin Slayer International, the latter taking the Best New Company prize. After several cases of winners taking a lengthy amount of time to make it onto the stage for their awards, the show jumped into expedited mode, with a list of categories and their winning parties simply being read off over the loudspeakers, and those who'd won being told to go collect their awards backstage. Dana DeArmond, who was announced two weeks ago as a third co-host of the show, curiously never appeared, despite being in attendance. This seemed to have been because of the effort to speed the show's second half along, and an apology was issued to her over the speakers, with thanks for offering her co-hosting services. She also got a shout out from Rico Strong when he accepted their Best Anal Scene trophy for Rico the Destroyer (Alexander DeVoe Productions/Jules Jordan Video). "Where's Dana DeArmond at?" Rico hollered into the mic. "Baby, this is for me and you!" Completely missing in action, … [Read more...]

Sensitive Gov. Info Leaked on P2P Networks
WASHINGTON — File-sharing software on government computers and networks has led to the disclosure of sensitive data including lists of people with HIV and FBI information, Internet security experts told a congressional panel yesterday. Robert Boback, chief executive of Tiversa, a Pittsburgh-based P2P intelligence company, told the panel that while searching networks for data for a client, he uncovered FBI surveillance photos of a Mafia hit man and a witness list including names of those under a protection program to his trial while the case was still open. In addition, a list of people with HIV, their psychological assessments and their Social Security numbers also had been breached. Democratic New York Rep. Edolphus Towns of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee said he would introduce a bill to ban file-sharing software from all government and contractor computers and networks. "The administration should initiate a national campaign to educate consumers about the dangers involved with file-sharing software," he said. According to experts, people who download software to share music and other files often expose information unknowingly with software that makes all contents of their computers available to other users. "I plan to meet with the new chairman of the Federal Trade Commission to request that the FTC investigate whether inadequate safeguards on file sharing software such as LimeWire constitute an unfair trade practice," Towns said. “The FCC needs to look at this, too. The file-sharing software industry has shown it is unwilling or unable to ensure user safety. It's time to put a referee on the field." File-sharing software such as LimeWire links computers directly to allow for the exchange of digital movies, music and files between users without the use of a central site to manage the transactions. … [Read more...]

Obscenity Laws Around the World
In an increasingly global economy, many American adult entertainment companies will no doubt intensify their international marketing efforts — and the more they know about obscenity laws around the world, the better off they will be. Obscenity laws can differ radically from one country to another, and sexually explicit material that isn't even controversial in some parts of the globe can result in long prison terms or even the death penalty in others. The United States remains the most porn-producing country in the world, but it is far from the most liberal where erotica is concerned. As a general rule, the most porn-friendly part of the world is Continental Europe. Spain, Holland, Portugal, Italy, Greece, France, Denmark and the Czech Republic are generally known for being quite tolerant of adult entertainment, and it isn't hard to find hardcore porn being sold right out in the open in major European cities like Barcelona and Athens. Porn stars often appear as guests on very mainstream television programs in Spain, and Barcelona is the home of Private Media Group (Europe's largest adult company). Meanwhile, the U.K. tends to be more sexually restrictive than much of Continental Europe even though it is one of the world's top porn producers. Like the United States and Canada, the U.K. is a place where erotica is legal as long as it isn't determined to be obscene — and edgy material that Spanish, Italian or Dutch prosecutors wouldn't consider obscene could result in an obscenity conviction in England, Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland. How risky the U.K. is for adult businesses depends on the type of erotica involved; licensed sex shops in major U.K. cities regularly sell Vivid, Wicked Pictures and Hustler titles without any problem, and the gay retail chain Clone Zone is an institution in the British gay community. Explicit vanilla porn, both gay and straight, that receives an R18 rating from the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) can legally be sold in licensed sex shops. But authorities in the U.K. are notoriously restrictive when it comes to BDSM erotica. In fact, Britain's BDSM community has been quite worried about England and Wales' new "extreme porn" law, which says that one can be imprisoned for three years for simple possession of what British politicians have been loosely describing as "extreme porn." In recent decades, obscenity law in the United States, Canada, England and other major western democracies has dealt with production, sales and distribution rather than simple possession; the U.S. Supreme Court's Stanley v. Georgia ruling of 1969 clearly states that while selling obscene adult entertainment is a crime, merely possessing it is not. But with the "extreme porn" law now in effect, mere possession of what authorities may consider "extreme porn" is now a felony in England and Wales. British BDSM activists fear that Internet users in London or Manchester could be sentenced to three … [Read more...]
Mozilla Gives Users an Advance Look at Firefox 4.0
NEW YORK — With an eye toward simplification, Mozilla has already started working on the next version of its flagship product, the Firefox web browser. The open-source giant released version 3.5 mere months ago to a flurry of praise from the tech community, and in recent weeks, the company has been leaking screenshots and descriptions of version 4.0, which will feature a glossy new look and a streamlined design. Mozilla hasn't finalized their design choices yet, but preliminary word indicates that Firefox 4.0 won't have a "home" button, and for some platforms, activating the program will remove the operating system's file menu from the top of the display, giving Firefox more room to breathe. Firefox also appears to be taking some cues from Apple's Safari web browser. The "refresh" button will now be located at the far right of the address bar. In addition, Firefox 4.0 may offer an animated "favorites" display similar to the latest version of Safari. Firefox 4.0 may also include an option to position browser tabs above the address bar, which would remove an overall title bar, or underneath the address bar. Developers at Mozilla are also trying to make casual users more aware of Firefox's capacity for expansion. Users now manage Firefox's add-ons through a menu option labeled "tools." The latest version of the browser will move that entire section to the right of the address bar, marked with a full button labeled "tools." In the meantime, Mozilla is working on a version designated 3.7 that will include some, though not all, of these changes. … [Read more...]
